Meeting has taken placed between Taylore, Carmi and Kevin to discuss Activities
Chef Night out - Nikkei Ramen next time
Skills Canada – April 15, 2026 (Abbotsford)-Lesley will be judging.
VIU Competition – April 25, 2026-Posters to be distributed soon
Interactive Trades Expo – May 1, 2026 (Timberline High School)-Gaetane Palardy will be there.
JAPANESE CUISINE WORKSHOP: Wednesday, May 20, 2026. At VIU.
National Convention updates-theme will be “the great outdoors”
Installation Dinner planning Jill from ShoreWolf-Monday June 15,2026 Carmie and Kevin will do follow up.
May 3- Quadra Island trip for tour with Barbara.More info to come.
6. Community Outreach & Fundraising
Children’s Telethon Dinner – April 18, 2026- will be at Blue Moon Winery-menu still need to be determined.
Hospice Dinner – Review and planning- The event was a success and they would like it to be an annual event.
7. Awards & Recognitions
Western award winners:
Chef of Year: Ronald St-Pierre
Sandy Sanderson Award: recognizes the individual who helps out with social media for the culinary industry: Erin Haluschak !
8. New Business
Vote on Scholarship Committee members-Lesley Stav,Buddy Wolfe,Tammy Williamson.
Nestlé Food Contest: national conference.
Idea for fundraiser: to set up a booth at July 1 festivities. Ronald will look into
$1,000 donation to The Culinary Arts Foundation of British Columbia. NVICA will contribute
Motion to carry on the donation by Jonathan Frazier and seconded by Ronald St-Pierre. All in favour.
Victoria Branch updates-they are experiencing hardship-few members.
National bylaws update – follow up with Ronald St‑ Pierre. No by-law changes per se. Technology has made some by- laws outdated/antiquated since registration and payments are made on-line. The timeline changed to April from December for membership.
Seaweed summit -chef needed to demo recipes.
Cookbook in partnership with Farmer’s Market- in the works.
