“Honouring Culinary Excellence on North Vancouver Island”

Each year, the North Vancouver Island Culinary Association proudly recognizes individuals who exemplify excellence, leadership, and dedication within our culinary community. Our awards celebrate the chefs, young professionals, supporters, and storytellers who elevate our branch and inspire others.

Chef of the Year – Arnold Mueller Award

Recognizes: an outstanding professional chef who demonstrates exceptional culinary skill, leadership in the kitchen and community, and a strong commitment to the values and mission of NVICA.

Eligibility: Active NVICA chef member, minimum 3 years.

Nomination: Submitted by members.

Young Chef of the Year – Fred Rose Memorial Award

Recognizes: an active Young Chef who displays passion, professionalism, and involvement in both NVICA and the broader community. Chosen by the Bursary/Scholarship Committee, this award honours the legacy of Fred Rose and his dedication to mentorship, excellence, and volunteerism.

Eligibility: Active NVICA young chef member.

Nomination: Submitted by members.

Associate Member of the Year

Recognizes: a valued associate member—such as a supplier, educator, or industry supporter—who has made significant contributions to the growth and success of NVICA through partnership, advocacy, and collaboration.

Eligibility: Individual or Business Associate Members.

Nomination: Submitted by members.

Branch Communicator Award

Recognizes: an individual who has gone above and beyond in promoting NVICA’s mission through communications, social media, newsletters, and member engagement.

Eligibility: Open to any member.

Nomination: By NVICA members

Lifetime Achievement Award

Recognizes: Honours a long-standing NVICA member whose career and volunteer contributions have made a lasting impact on the culinary profession and the development of our association.

Eligibility: Any membership category with 10+ years of service.

Nomination: At the discretion of the Board and Awards Committee.
