Chef Lesley Stav and Chef Jonathan Frazier from the North Vancouver Island Culinary Association (NVICA) were proud to take part in the Comox Valley Exhibition as judges for this year’s Bake Goods, Jams and Jellies competitions. We had the difficult — but delicious — job of tasting and evaluating entries from talented local bakers, cooks and home preservers. From beautifully baked goods to carefully crafted jams and jellies, the competition showcased the skill, creativity and dedication that goes into making food from scratch. Every entry reflected the time, care and pride of the person who made it. Judging isn’t simply about choosing a winner. It’s about recognizing flavour, texture, presentation, technique and creativity, while celebrating the people in our community who continue to share their passion for food. It was a real pleasure for Lesley and Jonathan to represent the NVICA and be part of an event that celebrates our local community, food traditions and the people who keep those traditions alive.
